The challenge
Four brave TNF members will be working together as a relay team to cycle the gruelling 516 mile NC500 route within 96 hours (4 days), which will involve riding day and night! The 830 km circular cycling route starts and ends in Inverness, covering Scotland's scenic northern Highlands.
Cycling the NC500 is a highly challenging endurance adventure, typically rated as a 10–14 day trip for fit cyclists, featuring over 8,000 meters of elevation gain across 500+ miles. It is known for relentless, steep climbs (often 15%+), variable, harsh weather, and navigating narrow, winding roads with campervan traffic. Sounds like fun then... good luck team!
The cause
All funds received will be used to buy the contents of each memory box. These memory boxes will then be donated to hospitals and hospices on behalf of The Nirbhau Foundation for free. Memory boxes are an important part of a bereaved parents’ journey as they contain meaningful keepsakes and mementos to help families create lasting memories of their lost loved one.
Each item provides support in their way, which we believe are important to help families remember and honour their child. They also provide a special place for families to store keepsakes in the years to come.
Fun fact
The NC500 route features dramatic coastal views, mountainous terrain, and over 10,000m of climbing, with the highest elevation gain at a staggering 626 metres (2,054 feet) above sea level in just under 6 miles - during the famous Bealach na Bà (Pass of the Cattle) section.
All donations however big or small are welcome.
